Former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina Announces Bid for US Presidency
Former Hewlett-Packard (HP) CEO Carly Fiorina has announced her bid for the US Presidency. Ms. Fiorina will be the second woman in the race for the Whitehouse following Hillary Clinton's announcement on April 12, 2015. She is the only former CEO in the race and will run for the Republican GOP. Although she is not a political newcomer, her only previous venture into politics, a bid for a seat at the Senate in 2010, ended in failure.

Ms. Fiorina received mixed reviews during her tenure at HP. She was in charge when the company was accused of selling technology to Iran and was responsible for around 30,000 layoffs. Upon announcing her candidacy, she was immediately confronted by http://carlyfiorina.org/ - a website clearly set up to remind people of her time at HP.

“Carly Fiorina failed to register this domain," the website says. "So I’m using it to tell you how many people she laid off at Hewlett-Packard. It was this many:" What follows are 30,000 unsmiling email icons. "That’s 30,000 people she laid off. People with families. And what does she say she would have done differently?, the website goes on, culminating in a quote from Carly Fiorina. “I would have done them all faster."

"Carly didn't always make the most popular decisions at HP - but, time and time again, they would prove to be the right ones," suggested her own website, Carly for President. "But even though her record as CEO speaks for itself, Carly faced headwinds from people who did not want to see HP change. They wanted to double-down on a flawed agenda that simply wasn't sustainable against the new challenges of the 21st Century."
