FormRouter Partners with GeoTrust to Add Digital Signatures to PDF Files

April 20, 2005
April 20, 2005 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - FormRouter, a hosted services for intelligent PDF forms company, and identity verification business GeoTrust, today announced a strategic partnership aimed at reducing the barriers to the deployment of online PDF forms. Under the agreement, FormRouter will be licensed to sell GeoTrust digital signatures as part of a new hosted service designed to simplify the creation, use and management of PDF forms. FormRouter is an existing reseller for GeoTrust's True Credentials for Adobe Certified Document Solutions.

"By incorporating GeoTrust's digital signature technology as part of our offering, we can offer anyone using PDF forms a complete hosted solution to support the deployment of online forms," said FormRouter founder and CTO, Jim Healy. "The partnership represents another milestone towards our goal of breaking down the barriers and making intelligent PDF forms available to anyone."

FormRouter's hosted service options allow organizations to quickly create and deploy online forms with no programming and no servers.

Submitted forms are processed through the FormRouter server and delivered to the form owner's desktop database. Through an existing partnership with Adobe Systems, FormRouter is licensed to enable usage rights, in Adobe PDF documents, which allow individuals using the free Adobe Reader to fill, sign, save and submit forms incorporating digital signatures.

"The partnership with FormRouter should help eliminate many of the barriers organizations encounter when deploying PDF forms with digital signatures," stated Steve Ryan, GeoTrust's vice president business development. "FormRouter's hosted service solution and their relationship with Adobe make this a cost effective option to create and deploy online PDF forms."

FormRouter's Reader Extensions Service enables usage rights within PDF files that "turn on" functionality within the ubiquitous Adobe Reader, available free of charge and distributed more than 750 million times. When a user launches a rights-enabled PDF document in Adobe Reader, the user has access to advanced capabilities such as 2D barcodes, digital signatures and saving the form offline. After the user completes the form, those functions are disabled until the user receives another rights-enabled PDF file.
