Global Authentication and Encryption Provider DigiCert Becomes the First Certificate Authority to Implement Certificate Transparency
Global authentication and encryption provider DigiCert has made a major contribution to enhancing online trust by becoming the first certificate authority to implement Certificate Transparency. DigiCert will begin including SSL Certificates to a public Certificate Transparency log in October.

Certificate Transparency addresses misissued or rogue SSL Certificates through the requirement that all certificates are posted in a public log. For over a year now the company has worked alongside Google on a pilot Certificate Transparency project that is currently drawing to a conclusion. DigiCert and Google engineers have tested Google’s code and provided feedback on potential Certificate Transparency implementation.

DigiCert has made significant efforts to improve online trust through involvement in organizations that focus on "security and trust" standards and through the adoption of the CA/Browser Forum Baseline Requirements and Network Security Guidelines.

“DigiCert’s business is built on trust, and we are committed to lead the industry toward better practices that enhance online security,” explained Nicholas Hales, CEO of DigiCert. “Certificate Transparency accomplishes this goal by shining a light on certificate issuance practices and building in a scalable early detection system that relies upon trusted, widely used technologies and standards. We applaud Google for its forward-thinking mindset in advancing CT closer to implementation.”
