Global data center company HostDime.com, Inc. (
HostDime) has bought Land in Bogotá, Colombia with a view to expanding its presence in Colombia's Data Center market. HostDime specializes in data center services and offers a range of options including colocation, Virtual Private Servers (VPS), managed cloud and managed dedicated servers. Established in 2001, the company has around 50,000 clients globally. With a "flagship facility" in Orlando, Florida, the company "owns and operates infrastructure and networks" globally with facilities in Los Angeles, Mexico, Colombia, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, India, and Hong Kong. It also operates a recently developed Tier III data center in João Pessoa, Brazil. The purchase of land in Bogotá underscores the company's plans for growth in Colombia.
HostDime's operations in Colombia started in 2008 and then comprised of a sales and support office alongside a Bogotá-based data center. The company has ambitious growth plans for Colombia and is targeting its services towards international organizations like businesses and banks that need local services. The purchase of additional land plots is intended to enable it to meet increasing demands for its services. HostDime Colombia plans to build a Tier IV facility on the land which is located in an industrial park in Northern Bogotá. The future facility will "be used to augment the current capacity and infrastructure". Construction will begin in the next 2 years when the current facility meets 70% capacity.
"Colombia is poised to become one of the strongest markets in Latin America due to the sheer size of the country’s internet penetration," explained the Director of HostDime LATAM, Edwin Tello. "We are seeing a lot of local government and enterprise companies shifting their cloud infrastructure needs to our data center infrastructure instead of supporting it within their premises or out of the country with other providers where latency is added. We are excited to be one of the most recognized global brands serving the local Colombian market."
