Global Information Technology Company Unisys Awarded USDA Cloud Contract
Global Information Technology (IT) company Unisys Corporation (Unisys) has been awarded a major USDA cloud contract. Unisys, which has a global presence and international headquarters in Pennsylvania, United States, caters to “many of the world's largest companies” and numerous government bodies. The company specializes in “providing integrated, leading-edge solutions to clients in the government, financial services and commercial markets” and employs around 20,000 people worldwide. Its contract with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has been reported to be worth around $230 million.

USDA is oversees the development of agriculture, forestry, and food within the United States. Its responsibility is to manage food safety and protect the United States’ natural resources and rural communities. Unisys will provide modernization services and support for USDA initiatives. The company was chosen based on the results of bids offered by a number of companies. It will provide USDA with a DevOps environment which us underpinned by Amazon Web Services (AWS). Unisys was awarded a similar USDA contract in 2010.
