May 7 saw a groundbreaking event for the new
Go Daddy Global Technology Center in Tempe, Arizona, USA. The event was attended by Arizona State Governor Janice K. Brewer, and representatives of Arizona State University Research Park (where the center will be located). Ryan Companies, the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA) and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) were also present. The event saw Governor Brewer and Go Daddy CEO Blake Irving casting their footprints in cement as a symbol of Go Daddy's expanding footprint.
Go Daddy is a web hosting, domain name and SSL provider with a firm focus on helping SMEs achieve their goals. Construction of the company's new facility begins this month and once completed, the center is expected to create a significant number of new jobs. A two-story, 150,000 square foot Go Daddy Global Technology Center will initially create 300 new jobs, adding to the 3,400 workforce Go Daddy employs globally. The center is expected to open in 2014.
"Go Daddy is well on its way to being the largest platform for small businesses around the world," explained Blake Irving, the company's CEO. "Go Daddy is changing people's lives by helping people turn their dreams and ideas into real businesses -- and this new facility is a key piece to making that happen. This location in the heart of the ASU Research Park is a sweet spot; it's in the hub of the state's technology corridor and gives us the space we need for the years ahead."
