Mr. Guangzeng Chen has joined Chinese integrated cloud-based platform, exchange, and big data solutions company
China Information Technology, Inc. (CNIT) as the company's new Chief Product Officer. The news was announced by the company's Board of Directors who promoted Mr. Chen to the position. He takes over from Mr. Zhishan Liang, who resigned from the company "for personal reasons".
CNIT, which was established in 2008 and has headquarters in Shenzhen, China, trades on the NASDAQ. The company's move underscores its transition from a hardware manufacturer to a "cloud-based Internet of Things provider" with cloud platform now its key product. The company's Research and Technology team has been rearranged to provide Mr. Chen with the support he needs to concentrate on cloud platform development, with particular focus on developing Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Software-as-a-Service (SaaS).
As CPO Mr. Chen will focus on developing the company's own operating system, enhancing its proprietary terminal mainboard technology, and overseeing the design of the company's hardware terminals. An industry veteran, he was previously the company's Vice President of Research and Technology where he "spearheaded the development" of CNIT's Cloud Nest Operating System (NOS). He joined the company from Shenzhen-based telecommunications equipment company CoolPad Group Limited where he was Project Manager. He was also Head of Research and Development at Taiwanese multimedia appliance company VideoHome. Mr. Chen has a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science from Zhengzhou University.
