December 10, 2008
December 10, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – HickoryTech (www.hickorytech.com) announced that it has opened a data center in downtown Mankato, Minn. The secure facility is available to businesses to host their mission-critical data, off-site storage, disaster recovery servers and networking gear. The Mankato data center offers more than 2,000 square feet of raised floor space, cooling, fire suppression and dedicated UPS with generator back-up. The data center is configured with secured 45U cabinets and is available in a variety of customizable configurations for business customers.

The secure, environmentally controlled and monitored facility is staffed around the clock and is available to customers 24 x 7 x 365. Customers can rent dedicated floor space, full secured cabinets, or fractional rack space. HickoryTech offers a full complement of connectivity options, telecommunication services and interconnects. The Mankato data center features dual-path fiber optic SONET network paths, ensuring highly-available connectivity. From its data centers, HickoryTech customers can access multiple tier-one ISPs and virtually any national carrier.

The Mankato Data Center is HickoryTech’s second data center and colocation facility, complementing the company’s tier 2 data center space in Edina, Minn, a suburb of Minneapolis.

“HickoryTech is unique in Minnesota in offering two separate geographically diverse data centers, which are connected with our highly redundant, high-bandwidth fiber network,” said John Morton, president of HickoryTech’s Business Solutions division. “Customers can leverage either or both facilities, plus our services and expertise to create their own redundant private clouds for business applications and services. This alleviates the need for these customers to invest capital and other important resources in building their own data centers.”
