Hosting Provider Network Redux Chooses Force10 Networks to Power its Infrastructure

July 13, 2010
July 13, 2010 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Force10 Networks, Inc., the global technology leader that data center, service provider and enterprise customers rely on when the network is their business, today announced that Network Redux, a managed hosting service provider in Portland, OR, has selected S-Series™ access switches from Force10 Networks to provide top-of-rack (ToR) server aggregation and switching functionality to an IT infrastructure tasked with serving a rapidly growing customer base. Network Redux chose S50 access switches to help improve the performance of its network infrastructure that was previously struggling to keep up with its growing business.

“As a hosting provider, availability and reliability are critical success factors since our customers put their faith in our ability to ensure that their Web infrastructure is always accessible,” says Thomas Brenneke, president, Network Redux. “In turn, we have placed our confidence in Force10 to deliver cost-effective, highly dense 10 Gigabit performance that can easily scale with our anticipated growth.”

Providing Core-Like Performance with Unmatched Port Density for its Class

Network Redux provides a broad range of Web hosting services from Virtual Servers for smaller businesses up to Cloud Services and Enterprise Platforms. Their customized Enterprise Hosting packages include load balancing, distributed computing, data replication and offsite archiving and retrieval services. To provide top-of-rack server aggregation and switching functionality as well as 10 GbE, BGP and multicasting, Network Redux deployed the S50 access switches, which provide core-like resiliency and performance at the network edge. Wanting to deploy switches that easily scale with the growth of the business, Network Redux also selected the Force10 S-Series because of its VirtualScale stacking technology, which enables multiple stacked switches to be managed as a single unit.

In addition to the core-like resiliency and unmatched GbE port density in a stacked configuration, Network Redux found additional value in the performance of the S-Series switches. With a forwarding capacity of more than 131 Mpps in addition to its ability to support jumbo frames of up to 9,252 bytes, the IT staff was confident that they had the bandwidth to support bursty data center applications but at a price point more closely associated with low-end switches.

“The proliferation of rich media content driving next-generation applications, coupled with businesses looking to lower their overall IT costs, is helping to drive the hosting provider market,” says Steve Garrison, vice president, marketing, Force10 Networks. “For Network Redux, their network availability and reliability are their calling card and Force10 S-Series access switches will play a pivotal role in their success going forward by delivering enterprise-level performance and industry-leading port density that enables them to effectively scale with their anticipated growth.”
