February 3, 2009 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) HostSearch
, the Internets largest source of searchable information related to web hosts and their products and services, is supporting the Information Technology Effectiveness Index (ITEI)
initiative, it was reported recently. Launched February 17, 2009, the initiative offers small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) a means of measuring their IT effectiveness against other organizations in similar areas.
Based on a 12-question survey that takes only 10 minutes to complete, participants receive a score which indicates their effectiveness alongside a detailed report with advice on how to improve IT processes. In December, the data collected by the survey will be compiled into the SMB IT Effectiveness Index Annual Report, which will be provided free-of-charge to survey participants.
Alongside HostSearch, and number of key organizations are supporting ITEI. These include Kennesaw State University
; Nine Lives Media Inc.
; The Planet
; Small Business Trends
; SMB Nation
; and Yankee Group
This is an important initiative, suggested HostSearch Web Editor, John Hughes. Regardless of what the economy is like, its important for business owners to get the most out of every aspect of their organizations. Until recently, only larger organizations with funds available to spend on consultants were able to establish their IT effectiveness. This meant that SMBs the backbone, heart and spleen of any economy were out in the cold. ITEI has changed all that. Its leveled the playing field substantially."
ITEI is the brainchild of Steve Kahan, VP of Marketing at The Planet. To find out more about how ITEI works, how SMBs can benefit from it, and what outcomes are expected, read HostSearch.coms recent interview with Mr. Kahan
