Hybrid IT Solutions Provider ViaWest Launches DRaaS Solution
Hybrid IT solutions provider ViaWest has launched a “Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service” (DRaaS) solution known as “Cloud Recovery – DRaaS”. The company, which has headquarters in Greenwood Village, Colorado, USA, has been in business since 1998. It offers a range of hosting options including colocation, cloud, compliance services and security offerings. ViaWest operates 29 data centers in North America and its “tailored solutions” are underpinned by a “100% uptime commitment”. Its move into DRaaS is intended to help its customers avoid one of the key threats to any company - major data loss.

When disaster strikes, the impact can be catastrophic for any business. Research company Gartner suggests that only 6% of companies can continue operating for longer than two years once a major data loss has occurred. Gartner also suggests that major data losses put 43% of companies out of business immediately after a disaster. The cost of addressing disasters can be as much as $5,600 per minute in lost revenue and penalties, Gartner suggests. “Cloud Recovery – DraaS” enables companies to protect their data and avoid such debilitating costs by allowing them to quickly recover critical data.

"We have architected our Cloud Recovery - DRaaS solution from the perspective of CIOs and IT managers who bear the tremendous responsibility of keeping companies functioning 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year," explained ViaWest’s CTO, Jason Carolan. “Extended downtime and the inability to recover lost data can be the difference between survival and bankruptcy. We understand that pressure, and Cloud Recovery - DRaaS gives CIOs and IT professionals another tool to help protect their companies."
