Hybrid Solutions Company ViaWest to Acquire IT Infrastructure Solutions Provider Peak 10
Hybrid solutions company ViaWest has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire IT infrastructure solutions provider Peak 10. ViaWest, which has headquarters in Greenwood Village, Colorado, United States, was established in 1999. A Shaw Communications company, it offers a range of hybrid IT infrastructure, colocation, cloud and managed services through a network that spans 30 data centers and “multiple cloud nodes across the U.S. Canada and Europe”. After combining with Peak 10 the two companies will create “a leading full-service hybrid IT solutions provider”.

Peak 10 was established in 2000 and has headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina, United States. The company provides HIPAA- and PCI-compliant cloud solutions and “tailored, reliable IT infrastructure solutions” for midsized companies. These include Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and managed colocation options. It prides itself on a customer-centric approach and solutions that are designed to “scale and adapt to customers’ changing business needs”. ViaWest’s acquisition of Peak 10 will reportedly cost $1.675 billion. Together the companies will cater to organizations in “20 domestic and international markets” including a presence in numerous US cities and Amsterdam, Netherlands. Peak 10’s CEO Chris Downie will lead the new company as CEO.

“By joining forces, Peak 10 and ViaWest will create a leading hybrid IT infrastructure and solutions provider well-positioned to deliver significant benefits to our customers,” explained Mr. Downie. “This transformative transaction will expand our scale and geographic reach and we are excited to bring together two companies with cohesive operating philosophies and complementary strengths. Our goal is to deploy best practices across the combined company to provide exceptional solutions to our customer base, while driving best-in-class performance by taking advantage of new opportunities for growth.”

“As we contemplated strategic partnerships, we quickly concluded that Peak 10 offered a complementary footprint, shared focus on the customer, and talented team,” explained ViaWest CEO Nancy Phillips. “I’m excited for our customers and employees because this combination will deliver an unparalleled customer experience and create dynamic growth opportunities.”
