Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) hosting provider
WorldStream has added a new Point of Presence (PoP) in in Milan, Italy. WorldStream, which has headquarters in Naaldwijk, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands, was established in 2006. Specializing in dedicated servers, colocation and data center services, the company provides “the most secure hosting environment” for its customers’ applications and services. It has grown more than 800% in the past five years and is “still one of the fast growing hosting organizations in Europe”. WorldStream caters to a global customer base which includes CSPs, MSPs, systems integrators, ISPs, and companies of a range of sizes. Adding Milan as a PoP will help the company expand its “global high-volume network”.
The company’s global network offers a 10 Terabit per second capacity “with a maximum network utilization of 50 percent”. This gives its customers “high-scalability options and the ability to easily mitigate the impact of Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attacks”. WorldStream’s broad suite of services also include colocation and dedicated servers. Its latest PoP will be located in a data center owned by IRIDEOS. IRIDEOS’ Milan data center is one of 15 facilities it has in Italy and will enhance WorldStream’s Southern European network by improving network speeds and latency in Italy.
“Low latency, high-speed, high-redundancy and extreme security measures are key ingredients for the proprietary global network we have established since 2006,” explained WorldStream’s co-owner and CEO Lennert Vollebregt in a press release. “I could share a lot of details on the technical specifications of this fully 100G equipped global network, about the cutting edge DWDM technology we’ve deployed as well as mitigation techniques, but I think the results speak for itself”.
