IaaS Solutions Provider Latisys to Increase Space and Power at Southern California Data Center
Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) solutions provider Latisys is to increase space and power at its Latisys OC2 data center in Southern California. The Irvine, California-based company, whose services include data center colocation and managed hosting, alongside cloud and hybrid infrastructure, has begun construction to add 12,000 square feet of high density raised floor to what is already the largest data center in Orange County. In addition, the company will add 1.8 megawatts of additional power at the facility.

Latisys’ move comes as a response to increased interest in data center, hosting and cloud services. Research company Gartner predicts demand for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) will increase by 47.8% by the end of 2015. The move is also in line with Latisys’ national expansion strategy. The company recently announced DEN2, a new data center in Denver, while DC5, its data center in Northern Virginia, also added 22,000 square feet of space. The company's CHI2 facility in Chicago added another 10,000 square feet of space, meaning Latisys now offers 343,000 square feet of space in seven data centers in four locations.

OC2 already provides a power capacity of 20 megawatts and 93,000 square feet of data center space. The facility is located next to Latisys’ OC1 facility, which offers 50,000 square feet of data center space. SOC 2 Type II and SOC 3 audited, OC2 offers round the clock monitoring by on-site NOC personnel and systems, and utilizes a number of fiber carriers. Construction will completed at OC2 by the end of June 2013 when the new data center space will become available to customers.

“Southern California continues to grow as a destination of choice for outsourced IT infrastructure services and as a gateway to Asia Pacific,” explained Latisys' Regional Sales Director, Tom Panarisi. "Latisys has been an active participant in the Orange County business community for several years and we take our role as the region’s trusted provider for outsourced IT solutions very seriously. We have come to know the most dynamic large and mid-size enterprises - not just in Orange County but across the U.S. - and we are proud to serve as an extension of any organization’s critical IT team.”
