IBM Chosen to Provide Web Hosting Services to South Africa's Standard Bank

January 19, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – IBM has been chosen to provide web hosting services to South Africa's Standard Bank. The company was chosen to update infrastructure at Standard Bank’s Argentinean operation. The agreement between the two organizations was made in June 2007. Alongside web hosting, IBM will provide a range of other services.

The agreement requires IBM to install mainframe computers, and network and storage capacity throughout its Argentinean operations. The company will also manage and maintain the new systems it provides Standard Bank.

IBM is a multinational company focusing on all aspects of computer technology. With 355,000 employees and a global presence, it is the largest company of its type. The company offers a full range of hosting services including managed and application hosting utilizing IBM AIX, Windows, UNIX, Solaris and Linux operating systems. IBM has a ‘proven track record’ hosting sites. It has hosted sites Wimbledon, the Ryder Cup, the GRAMMY Awards, the Masters Golf Tournament and the U.S. Open. The company has also recently made agreements to upgrade and manage computer infrastructure for Allied Irish Bank. The company was awarded a $66 million contract over three years aimed at a full revamp of Allied Irish’s banking systems.
