ICANN to Hold 22nd International Public Meeting in Argentina

April 4, 2005 - (HOSTSEARCH.COM) - ICANN is holding the 22nd international public meeting in Mar del Plata, in Argentina. These meetings are part of ICANN's effort to develop a global consensus in the development and management of the internet. ICANN's agenda for this meeting include DNS security, domain name hijacking, The World Summit on Information Society, Whois policy development and the deployment of internationalised domain names (IDNs).

The public meeting of ICANN's International Board of Directors will take place on Friday 8 April. Items that the ICANN Board will review include AfriNIC’s application for recognition as regional Internet registry, corporate governance principles and guidelines, IANA policy for allocation of IPv4 blocks to regional Internet registries, the designation of new sponsored top-level domains (sTLDs), and changes to the bylaws.
