IDC Report Projects United Arab Emirates Cloud Hosted Managed and Outsourced Services Growth
A report by global market intelligence company IDC projects significant growth in the United Arab Emirates’ (UAE) cloud hosted managed and outsourced services sector. The company, which has headquarters in Framingham, Massachusetts, USA, specifically gathers information on the technology, telecommunications and consumer technology markets. Its report suggests that by 2018 managed and outsourced services will grow into a $972 million industry in the UAE.

The report, entitled ‘United Arab Emirates Cloud Hosted Managed and Outsourced Services Market 2013 Analysis and 2014-2018 Forecast’, suggests growth in the area has been fuelled by increasing numbers of companies and other organizations’ requiring third parties to manage their IT activity. It sees an increase of 19.8% by 2018. The report also suggests that data center services are also of particular interest in UAE, with particular emphasis on infrastructure services such as shared hosting, dedicated servers and colocation,

“CIOs are under constant pressure to drive IT innovation and achieve higher agility,” explained IDC Middle East, Africa, and Turkey’s Research Manager, IT Services, Saurabh Verma. “As the availability of skills remains a major challenge and as up to 70 percent of IT teams spend their time on processes related to ‘keeping the lights on’, CIOs and IT managers are under constant pressure to create incremental capacity for strategic IT projects.”
