May 20, 2006 (HOSTSEARCH.COM) Identity and trust assurance provider Comodo (http://www.comodo.com) has announced the launch of a free anti-virus solution. Comodo Anti-Virus V1.0 is one of the most powerful Anti-Virus solutions ever created free for all home users. The enterprise class AV solution is offered free of charge but, according to the company, outperforms other solutions free or paid.
What is available to users represents a complete version of the product with a free ongoing license. The solution leverages Comodos Certification Authority expertise to identify and eliminate threats such as viruses, worms, and Trojans. The systems features include full scanning, email scanning, process monitoring, worm blocker and scan scheduling. In addition, virus definitions are automatically downloaded and loaded into the software.
As Internet security threats rise, consumers are increasingly aware of the risks yet are also increasingly confused about how to manage this growing complexity. To date, software companies have flooded the market with stripped-down versions of software that are quite ineffective at combating and defending against these threats, suggested Melih Abdulhayoglu, President, Chief Security Architect and CEO of Comodo. Comodo, as a Certification Authority, has a special responsibility to provide a way for consumers to conduct trusted communication and commerce through authentication and protection technologies.
