International Market Research Company IDC Sees Growth in New Zealand's Cloud Sector
International market research company International Data Corporation (IDC) is predicting growth in New Zealand's cloud sector. The company, which alongside market research specializes in analysis of IT, telecommunications and consumer technology activity worldwide, has written a report entitled "NZ IT Services Market Analysis and Forecast". The report forecasts 7%–9% annual growth in "off premises IT services: including hosted applications and infrastructure over the next 4-5 years".

New Zealand's IT sector grew only 1.9% in 2014 based on the same time the previous year. However, IDC's report sees 2.6% annual growth in the sector until 2019. At the same time, the report suggests cloud-based services will see a significant "15–27% compound annual growth rate (CAGR)" over the same period. Growth in each area will be fueled by increasing budgets - 19% of New Zealand companies suggested ICT budget increases this year.

“New Zealand organizations are committed to shifting their IT needs off premises and into the cloud," explained IDC IT Services Market Analyst, Donnie Krassiyenko. "There is a strong appetite for services that drive cloud and cloud integration, as well as investments in a strong network to enable these solutions. At a business level, it is all about mobile applications transforming the way in which business connect to its customers via its staff and ongoing digital engagement”.
