Cloud and managed hosting provider
iomart Hosting has been chosen to create an IT infrastructure for the UK's 200-year-old Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) - the largest charity dedicated to gardening in the world.
The charity's central London headquarters (located at the Royal Horticultural Halls in Vincent Square, Westminster, London) were no longer deemed appropriate to house the charity's data center, and iomart were engaged to provide a scalable and secure hybrid hosting solution designed to accommodate the requirements of an ever increasing membership, and increasing numbers of staff.
The RHS has 400,000 members including its patron, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The charity manages the world famous Chelsea Flower Show and a range of other events dedicated to flowers, plants, and all aspects of horticulture. The RHS website offers a range of information including advice and details of horticultural research. It also provides a booking system for RHS supported events.
iomart Hosting is part of iomart Group PLC. It is one of the UK's main managed hosting and cloud computing providers and owns and manages a network which includes six UK data centers. The company's services include private and hybrid cloud options, colocation, IP transit, cloud storage and email solutions. The company utilized its Cloudsure platform to create a high performance VMware solution and establish a hybrid cloud platform which scales capacity when the RHS website is experiencing large amounts of traffic.
"Our technical teams work with organizations to ensure that they have the bespoke mission-critical infrastructure that best supports their needs," explained iomart Hosting's Managing Director, Sarah Haran. "We are proud to be helping the RHS deliver a high value hosting platform to its members and supporters."
