Iranian Student News Site Pulled by Texas Web Host

January 25, 2005
January 25, 2005 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – BBC reported earlier today that Texas based web host, The Planet (theplanet.com), has stopped service to the widely read The Iranian Student News Agency (www.isna.ir). An Iran government official has accused the US government of breaching human rights by allegedly ordering the move. The ISNA was reportedly given 48 hours to remove their site from The Planet servers with no indication as to the reason for the move. The Planet has not responded to requests for information about closing ISNA site and there is no mention of the move on their corporate website.

Other Iran websites are now preparing for similar actions. The issue has caused for calls within Iran for the development of satellite technology to cut reliance on Europe and America. US Secretary of State candidate Condoleezza Rice recently called Iran an "outpost of tyranny" while allegations have also been made that US special forces troops have been operating within Iran for over a year in preparation for a strike, possibly by Israel, on Iranian nuclear facilities.
