Memset has been named the South East’s Entrepreneur of the Year and is now competing for the national crown at this year’s British Chambers of Commerce Awards in London.
Set up in 2002, Memset offers a range of industry-leading internet hosting solutions tailored to customers’ needs and budgets. Memset is Britain's first Carbon Neutral ISP and has won a number of awards for innovation, service and IT strategy including being voted the UK’s best web-host for four consecutive years by PCPro readers.
Judges dubbed Kate an ‘inspiration’ to her industry as well as to budding female IT professionals, and commended her “determination and drive in the IT sector” which has achieved “consistent growth in performance and innovation”.
John Dunsmure, Managing Director of the British Chambers of Commerce, said: “Despite the difficult economic climate, businesses across the country are continuing to succeed, overcoming obstacles by adopting innovative ideas and motivating their people. This company is a great example of the very best of UK business and I wish Kate and her team at Memset success in the national finals.”
Clinching the national Entrepreneur of the Year would also mean that Memset would be in with a chance to collect the ‘Winner of Winners’ £50,000 cash prize. This goes to the category winner that judges believe stands out from the rest.
Kate said, “If we were lucky enough to win the cash prize, I would put it towards supporting budding female IT professionals and young technologists.”
There are eight categories, backed by high profile sponsors including Royal Bank of Scotland, AVG Technologies, Dell, Westfield Health, BT, fdf (Foundation degree Forward) and AXA PPP Healthcare.
The national winners will be announced at a ceremony at the National Maritime Museum in London on November 26.
