Japanese telecommunications giant
Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Communications Corporation (NTT) has announced it is to build two new data centers in India. NTT, which has headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, is one of the world’s largest telecommunications providers. Ranked 50th in 2017’s ‘Fortune Global 500’ list, the company’s activities include private networks, cloud, hosting and IP networking services. Its is also a leader in IPv6 transit solutions. NTT has data centers and networks in Asia, North America and Europe. The new facilities will be built in Mumbai and Bangalore, India. NTT will work in conjunction with fellow NTT company Netmagic Solutions (Netmagic).
Netmagic is “India’s leading managed hosting and cloud service provider”. It operates nine carrier-neutral data center facilities and caters to a customer base of around 2,000 companies worldwide. The new centers will offer the company’s services which include managed colocation, dedicated hosting, and multi-cloud options alongside “IT Infrastructure monitoring and management, managed security, disaster recovery and managed app hosting”. Both Mumbai and Bangalore are hubs for business and key strategic locations. The new facilities will extend NTT’s data center capacity in India by around 70%.
“These facilities are a part of our Nexcenter brand of Global data center services providing end-to-end ICT solutions combining data center/cloud, network and managed services, thereby, capitalizing on the trend of enterprises’ migrating their on-premise systems to the cloud,” explained NTT’s Senior Vice President Global Business, Takanobu Maeda. The data center in Mumbai will provide 7,900 square meters of floorspace (around 2,750 racks) while the Bangalore facility will of 5,700 square meters of space (around 1,500 racks).
