Independent European cloud platform LumaDock has announced the opening of its newest VPS hosting zone in Helsinki, just days after the launch of its Amsterdam region. The new zone, located within Digita’s Tier III Pieni Paja data center in Pasila, adds renewable-powered capacity to LumaDock’s growing pan-European network.
Powered entirely by Nordic wind energy, the Helsinki facility emphasizes sustainability, reliability, and efficiency. Integrated with the city’s district heating and cooling system, it reuses excess heat from servers to help warm nearby homes and offices — a hallmark of Finland’s eco-friendly data center infrastructure.
According to national statistics, over 75% of Finland’s electricity now comes from renewable or carbon-free sources, while grid operator Fingrid maintains 99.99993% transmission reliability. The country’s cold Nordic climate enables natural free cooling, helping the Pieni Paja site achieve a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) rating below 1.2 — one of the best in Europe.
LumaDock’s new Finnish region offers direct connectivity to key Nordic and European exchange points, including FICIX2, Netnod, and the Cinia C-Lion1 submarine cable, linking Finland to Germany for low-latency connections across Scandinavia and Central Europe.
The platform’s infrastructure — standardized across all its European zones — features AMD EPYC processors, triple-replicated NVMe storage, unmetered bandwidth, and built-in DDoS protection, ensuring both performance and security.
“Finland’s renewable energy ecosystem, grid stability, and data center maturity made Helsinki the natural next step for us,” said a LumaDock spokesperson. “It offers users a clean, fast, and reliable environment to run production workloads. With Helsinki now online, our network connects every major European corridor from London to the Nordics.”
Both Starter Cloud VPS and Performance VPS plans are now live in the Helsinki zone, featuring instant deployment, dual-stack IPv4/IPv6 networking, and snapshot backup tools by default.
The launch marks LumaDock’s sixth active European region, following zones in London, Paris, Frankfurt, Bucharest, and Amsterdam. The company also confirmed that its next data center launch will be in New York, signaling its upcoming expansion into North America.
