Managed cloud company
Rackspace has introduced a Service Level Agreement (SLA) that guarantees 99.99% uptime for its Private Cloud for Enterprises service. The move, which covers the OpenStack Application Programming Interface (API), is aimed at increasing the number of OpenStack deployments used at the enterprise level.
Rackspace’s move comes in the wake of its decision to remain independent and not to seek a company to buy it – a move that was in turn a result of an improved bottom line and interest in the company’s services, particularly, a vastly improved second quarter. However, the company quelled speculation that the two events were related, stating that the latest update to Rackspace’s Private Cloud SLA has been in the pipeline since the beginning of 2014.
“Rackspace Private Cloud was designed to deliver stable API-driven OpenStack infrastructure so that our customers can focus on the development of business-critical, revenue-generating applications,” explained Rackspace’s Vice President, Rackspace Private Cloud, Darrin Hanson. “Rackspace’s expertise in operating OpenStack clouds allows our customers to take advantage of a private cloud without investing in in-house operational expertise. With the addition of an industry leading guarantee and DevOps automation of the application lifecycle, customers can rest assured that Rackspace Private Cloud delivers a production-ready platform that can unlock the full power of cloud technology.”
