Rackspace Hosting (Rackspace) has launched a new UK-based environmentally friendly data center. The company, which prides itself on offering “Fanatical Support”, has headquarters in San Antonio, Texas, USA and caters to around 300,000 business customers globally. It is a recognized leader in hybrid cloud solutions and offering customers tailored solutions using “single- or multi-tenant servers, or a combination of those platforms”. Its new data center is designed to support its European managed cloud services activity.
Rackspace’s new 130,000-square-foot data center is located in Crawley, West Sussex, which is just outside London. The center is “one of the UK's greenest data centers”, delivering a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) rating of 1.151 compared to the more standard 1.72. The center has achieved BREEAM assessment certification, receiving the distinction of 'Excellent'. It is the first in the United Kingdom to utilize 'indirect outside air' cooling technology which has reduced the center’s energy costs by around 80%.

This is our tenth global data center and this expansion will enable us to grow with our customers for many years to come.
