GigeNET is to open a new data center in Ashburn, Virginia, USA. The company, which has headquarters near Chicago, Illinois, USA, offers a range of services including dedicated, cloud, and hybrid hosting alongside collocation and DDoS protection. Its new data center is set for launch in January 2015.
GigeNET’s new ISO, LEED and Uptime Institute compliant center will be its 3rd location and offer “unbelievable benefits” that will be available to GigeNET’s new and existing customers. These include higher redundancy and lower latency to Europe. The center also offers additional capacity for GigeNET’s DDOS protection and Automated Proxyshield services, as well as offering more diverse “geographical availability” for the company’s load balancing options. The center will “add thousands of servers and up to 400 VM's” to the company’s Virtual Cloud network.
“One of the major benefits of opening a data center in Ashburn, VA is that it is one of the most concentrated locations of IP networks; it’s essentially the Silicon Valley of the East Coast and will greatly increase our peering connections,” explained GigeNET’s President, Ameen Pishdadi.
