Nexcess has gained Type 2 SSAE 16 certification. The company, which has headquarters in Southfield, Michigan, USA, was established in 2000. It offers a range of products and services including WordPress, Magento, ExpressionEngine, and vBulletin hosting. It also operates data centers across the United States, Europe and in Australia. The company's certification is for the period February 1, 2014 to January 31, 2015 and covers its data center and web hosting activity.
Service Organization Controls are professional standards (under SSAE 16 and ISAE 3402) that address the control of sensitive data within an organization. It replaces the SAS 70 standard and is a key quality certification for businesses whose operations require the collection of financial and private data. Certification is obtained through third-party audits and Nexcess' certification indicates that its processes and procedures meet industry "best practices". The company's most recent audit managed by Tampa, Florida-based Brightline CPAs & Associates, Inc.
