Edge Hosting LLC (Edge Hosting) has announced the completion of its HIPAA HITECH audit for 2016. Edge Hosting, which has headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, was established in 1989. The company specializes in providing “highly available managed hosting services for organizations large and small”. Its offerings extend to “secure, scalable, dependable and compliant” managed cloud, hybrid, dedicated services alongside colocation. The audit confirms Edge Hosting’s HIPAA HITECH compliance.
Edge Hosting was audited by CliftonLarsonAllen LLP against the Security Rule of The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act. The acts ensure the privacy and security of information held by those involved in the health industry and the audit follows the Office of Civil Rights (OCR) audit protocol.
"Electronic Protected Health Information is some of the most sought after data by hackers, cyber thieves and advanced threats because of its personal and private nature,” explained Edge Hosting’s Chief Information Security Officer, Mark Houpt. “Failure to protect such data could result in significant embarrassment to the person who's data is breached, an Edge customer and Edge itself, let alone monetary fines. This audit is not protection, but it is validation by a third party that the necessary efforts and protections are in place to ensure that we maintain the confidentiality and trust of our clients," he added.
