Edge Hosting has partnered with firewall, CDN and DDoS mitigation services provider CloudFlare Inc. (CloudFlare). Edge Hosting, which has headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland, United States, was established in 1989. The company offers a range of hosting-related managed services and caters to businesses of a range of sizes. It’s partnership with CloudFlare offers the company another layer of protection for its services.
CloudFlare, which has headquarters in San Francisco, California, United States, bills itself as providing “the simplest way to make websites faster, safer and smarter”. The company maintains a “highly-available global network” which offers robust security measures. It provides services to both businesses and government agencies through offices in San Francisco and London, United Kingdom. The partnership makes CloudFlare available to Edge Hosting’s customers.
CloudFlare moves web traffic through its “intelligent global network” which protects against threats like bots and crawlers and filters and caches traffic to “maximize performance” and speed up the loading of website pages. “This partnership enhances Edge Hosting’s world class, perimeter layer, application (layer 7) defensive mechanism,” explained Edge Hosting’s CISO Mark Houpt. “The goal was to enable a new layer of customer controlled defense and compliance through the application of DDoS filters and mitigations, the web application firewall (WAF) feature and the added benefit of response time generated by the content delivery network (CDN) feature.”
