Managed Hosting Specialist WP Engine Announces Launch of ‘Cloudflare Stream Video Plugin for WordPress’
Managed hosting specialist WP Engine has announced the launch of ‘Cloudflare Stream Video Plugin for WordPress.’ Established in 2010 and based in Austin, Texas, United States, WP Engine also has a global presence that includes San Francisco, California and San Antonio, Texas, United States, Limerick, Ireland, Brisbane, Australia and London, United Kingdom. The company has a broad customer base that currently stands at more than 75,000 accounts and includes businesses of a range of sizes. It is renowned for offering the ‘WordPress Digital Experience Platform’ (DXP) - a proprietary fully managed ‘WordPress’ platform.

An open source solution, WordPress is a Content Management System (CMS) that has been used to develop more than a quarter of the websites currently on the Internet. Users can download the WordPress software free of charge and install it directly onto their servers. The WordPress software can be used to develop highly complex websites or simple blogs. It features a number of ‘plugins’ that once installed change the functionality of a website. ‘Cloudflare Stream Video Plugin for WordPress’ allows users to “publish and stream performance optimized videos on WordPress sites”.

With headquarters in San Francisco, California, United States, Cloudflare was established in 2009. Its content delivery network services sit alongside DDoS mitigation, Internet security and distributed domain name server services. Cloudflare acts as a reverse proxy for websites and its network caters for “10 trillion requests per month” (or around “10 percent of all Internet requests”). WP Engine’s partnership with Cloudflare and its new plugin simplifies video streaming for its customers and makes it more secure.

“By creating the Cloudflare Stream Video Plugin for WordPress, we are helping developers easily add, manage and optimize videos into all types of digital experiences, ultimately creating better, more robust user experiences,” suggested WP Engine’s Vice President of Strategic Alliances, Lisa Box. “We are excited to offer this integration to the WordPress community, because continuing to scale WordPress performance is a priority at WP Engine.”

"We launched Cloudflare Stream to make video streaming easy and affordable for content owners and app developers alike,” added Cloudflare’s Chief Revenue Officer, Chris Merritt. “The Cloudflare Stream Video Plugin for WordPress will further simplify video publishing for developers and website owners that build in WordPress."
