Microsoft Joins the Global Cloud Services Program of IT Service Management Company Capgemini Group
Microsoft has joined the Global Cloud Services Program of IT service management company the Capgemini Group (Capgemini) - one of the world's leading consulting, technology and outsourcing providers. The company, which has headquarters in Paris, France, has more than 180,000 staff in over 40 countries. It “delivers business, technology and digital solutions that fit” its customers’ requirements. Capgemini’s global revenues totalled EUR 10.573 billion ($11.84 billion) in 2014. Microsoft’s move being leveraged as “Capgemini Cloud Choice with Microsoft”.

Microsoft joining Capgemini’s program is a result of the company expanding its cloud services. With Microsoft as a partner it will be able to offer customers a broader range of cloud services with a focus on Microsoft-based “cloud-based business transformation and the implementation of business and technology solutions” that include Cloud Advisory and Managed Platform Services.

“Capgemini Cloud Choice with Microsoft” offers a range of “as-a-service” solutions specifically designed for industry. These include OneShare and SkySight. OneShare accelerates test and development provisioning on Microsoft Azure and helps users control costs “through usage monitoring and resource scheduling”. SkySight is an “Azure-like private cloud” that helps businesses deploy new applications quickly and benefit from “competitively-priced managed services” and from “rapid deployment and configuration”. The company will also offer its own industry-focused IP offerings, including a “Banking Platform”.

“This is an exciting new step in our global partnership with Microsoft, where we have long pioneered the adoption of cloud,” explained Capgemini Group’s Global CTO, Lanny Cohen. “The benefits of flexible, “as-a-service” computing power have changed the market dynamics of every industry, but the key is being able to exploit them. Many industries still face challenges with the adoption of cloud technology and workload migration and need support to define their cloud policies, compliance environment and organization structure to drive business performance. This is a requirement not just for large enterprises but also for start-ups and new market entrants who are moving swiftly to harness cloud technology.”
