Microsoft Revamps Executive Team
Microsoft has revamped its executive team with the departure of key members including Stephen Elop (the former director of Nokia) and Mark Penn (the former Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer). The revamp was announced by email to Microsoft staff Wednesday 17 June 2015 by the corporation's Chief Executive Officer, Satya Nadella.

The revamp comes alongside a repositioning of Microsoft's internal departments - the company will be split into 3 major divisions: Windows and Devices, Cloud and Enterprise, and Applications and Services. Mark Penn, a former Hillary Clinton advisor, had suggested he would leave Microsoft towards the end of last year. Many believe he will help Mrs. Clinton's current presidential campaign, but the reason given for leaving was his intention to start an investment company. Eric Rudder, Executive Vice President of Advanced Technology & Education and Kirill Tatarinov, Executive Vice President of the Microsoft Business Solutions Group also leave the corporation.

The change in executive personnel comes after Satya Nadella's repositioning of Microsoft as a 'mobile first, cloud first' company and a reduction of 18,000 (mainly Nokia) staff last year. Nadella has also embarked on moving current staff within the corporation. News of the recent changes had an negative impact on Microsoft's shares, which went down 0.2% on the Nasdaq exchange.
