Multinational Communications Company CenturyLink Launches Seattle-based Cloud Development Center
American multinational communications company CenturyLink has launched a new Cloud Development Center in Seattle, Washington, USA. The company, which specializes in communications and data services for a range of private, enterprise and government customers, selected Seattle as the location of its new facility partly because the area is already home to numerous cloud companies. The company also intends to enable "customers, partners and industry influencers" in area to "discover CenturyLink Cloud innovations".

The center's development underscores CenturyLink's "reinvention" as a cloud infrastructure, IP-enabled network services, and hosted IT leader. Located in Seattle’s Bellevue suburb, the new center brings around 300 jobs to the area. It provides 30,000-square-feet of space, which includes a number of workspaces designated to "collaborative development".

“The Cloud Development Center ushers in a new era for CenturyLink, offering a collaborative environment for top technology talent from around the world, a hub for client and industry discussions, and a focal point for building technology solutions that benefit our customers,” explained CenturyLink Cloud's Chief Technology Officer, Jared Wray. “Our new facility builds on our legacy roots in the Seattle area, where we founded CenturyLink Cloud, and is designed to foster creativity among the top developers and coders of today and tomorrow as they keep CenturyLink at the forefront of cloud and platform innovation”.
