Multinational IT Equipment Company Fujitsu Opens Singapore Data Center
Multinational Information Technology (IT) equipment company Fujitsu has opened a data center in Singapore. The Japanese company which has headquarters in Tokyo, has chosen a center which is in the west of the city state and is resilient to natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes. The move was driven by increased demand for cloud services within Asia.

Fujitsu now operates three data centers in Singapore, while its parent body, the Fujitsu Group, operates 100 data centers globally. Its latest center is operated by American company Equinix. Fujitsu's cloud capability has been spurred by the company's efforts to deliver "Value-added Services" such facilitating other vendors' cloud environments.

Aside from its advantages as far a natural disasters are concerned, Fujitsu chose Singapore because it is an international network hub that offers high quality broadband networks. Fujitsu's cloud-service platform will now be expanded to other countries in the region including Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia and Indonesia.

“From this data center, Fujitsu will provide SaaS, PaaS and other hybrid services for integrated operations," suggested a Fujitsu press release. "Interconnectivity between data centers enables disaster-response service availability. In the future, Fujitsu plans to offer new services for the integrated management of organically linked clouds,” added the press release.
