Nebula Team Joins Computer Technology Corporation Oracle
Staff members of Nebula, a startup company which closed recently, have been employed by technology corporation Oracle. The company, which focused on cloud technology, ceased operating last month. Around 40 of Nebula's engineers have joined Oracle, each joining the company's Cloud Computing Unit to work on the corporation's cloud infrastructure. Oracle's Cloud Computing Unit is led by Oracle's Cloud Development Senior Vice President, Mr. Peter Magnusson, who himself joined Oracle from photo and video site Snapchat towards the end of last year.

Nebula closed on April 1, 2015 and Oracle have taken on the bulk of its staff. The company had facilities in California and Seattle, USA and received significant levels of investment, with close to $40 million secured from a range of investors. Its platform leveraged the OpenStack cloud operating system, and the company also offered Nebula One, a hardware solution that that allows businesses to establish private clouds using their own servers.

"When we started this journey four years ago, we set out to usher in a new era of cloud computing by curating and productizing OpenStack for the enterprise," suggests the Nebula website in a message explaining its closure. "We are incredibly proud of the role we had in establishing Nebula as the leading enterprise cloud computing platform. At the same time, we are deeply disappointed that the market will likely take another several years to mature. As a venture backed start up, we did not have the resources to wait."
