Non-profit organization eCOM-LAC has chooses domain marketplace provider Sedo as its partner for the launch of the .LAT domain name suffix. Uruguay-based eCOM-LAC (otherwise known as the Latin America and Caribbean Federation for Internet and Electronic Commerce) was established in 1988 through the integration of "several entities interested in combining efforts for ICTs in the Latin America and Caribbean region". It provides technical support for the .LAT domain extension, a 100% Latino initiative which is intended to represent websites with Latino content.

Established in 2001, Sedo, which has headquarters in Cologne, Germany and a presence in Boston, USA, has the world’s "largest database of domain names for sale" - 18 million in total. The company has a global client base to which it offers services that include new gTLD applicants and premium auctions.

Sedo specializes in connecting domain buyers and sellers and "making it simple for individuals and companies to acquire the domain names they need for their online presence". It conducts business in 21 languages, including Spanish and Portuguese, and has "language-specific versions" of its domain ecommerce site. It will conduct "sunrise auctions" for the new .LAT domain and be responsible for global marketing. The .LAT sunrise closes April 30, 2015 when .LAT domains will be available to the public.
