December 3, 2008
December 3, 2008 – (HOSTSEARCH.COM) – Mac users can now access Open-Xchange Groupware thanks to Open Source collaboration software, it was reported recently. Open-Xchange recently previewed its iSync connector called OXtender for Mac OS X, which makes Open-Xchange emails, appointments, contacts, tasks and documents available to end users through their native Mac applications (mail, iCal and address book). The solution also enables synchronization on mobile devices.

The system allows users to wok independently of Internet connection, synchronizing changes between Macs and Open-Xchange once Internet connection is achieved. Open-Xchange also facilitates usage on devices such as iPhones, iPods, cell phones and software from third-party ISVs that support iSync. MobileMe users also get new email, calendar and contact entries via their iPhone “over the air” push service.

"As the Mac gains popularity both at home and in the office - and on the go - users want to have reliable access to their email, calendar and other information," explained Open-Xchange CEO, Rafael Laguna. "Now, Mac users can enjoy offline access to Open-Xchange and can synch their mobile devices - even wireless in some cases."

Open-Xchange AG is a privately-held company headquartered in Nuremberg, Germany with offices in Olpe, Germany and Tarrytown, New York, USA. The solution is currently utilized by around 3,500 companies and organizations worldwide and is offered by a number of hosting providers including Network Solutions (U. S.), 1&1 Internet (Germany), JMF (Japan), OVH (France) and Hostpoint (Switzerland). The Open-Xchange Hosting Edition is architected to integrate into a hosting provider’s existing infrastructure, such as authentication, provisioning, billing, and email storage and does not require that these systems be replaced.
