) has acquired MySQL expertise provider Open Query. Part of the global Catalyst group of companies, Catalyst IT Australia was established in 2008 and has global headquarters in Chatswood, New South Wales, Australia. The company is one of Australia's “most recognized Open Source development and solutions companies” and has a presence in three Australian states.
Catalyst IT Australia is recognized as a key sponsor of the Open Source community and is a supporter of industry conferences and events. Its services include extending and customizing Open Source products to meet any company’s requirements. It offers support for a range of software including Drupal, SilverStripe CMS, Moodle, and Samba. Catalyst IT Australia also offers fully managed solutions on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and other cloud platforms. Financial aspects of its acquisition of Open Query have not been released.
Open Query, which has headquarters in Queensland, Australia, was established in New Zealand in 1997. The company provides MySQL, MariaDB and other database-related services. It has particular expertise in “optimization by design, maintenance (preventing trouble), scalability and performance tuning, and security”. ”Catalyst is looking forward to the opportunity to work with the current Open Query clients as well as with new prospects,” explained a statement on OpenQuery’s website. “Catalyst’s core values are very much aligned with those of Open Query, which is why we are particularly pleased with this outcome,” added Open Query’s Executive Director and Founder Arjen Lentz.
