Open-source Software Company Red Hat Announces Presence at GITEX 2014
Open-source software company Red Hat has announced it will be present at GITEX 2014, which will be held 12-16 October, 2014 at the Dubai World Trade Center. The company will be located at stand CLD-18 in Hall 6, and will show its cloud computing and virtualization technologies to those present. Red Hat personnel will also be on hand to take questions on its Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions, which include Red Hat Cloud Infrastructure, Red Hat Enterprise and Linux OpenStack Platform, as well as its Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) solution, OpenShift.

Red Hat promotes an "open" approach to cloud, Linux, middleware, storage and virtualization solutions. The company advocates an open hybrid cloud computing model with open standards and open APIs, which it believes are key to avoiding vendor lock-in issues. Red Hat will demonstrate the OpenStack-based products which underpin countless hybrid clouds. Red Hat will also demonstrate Red Hat CloudForms, an open hybrid cloud management product. CloudForms allows enterprises and other users to build and fully manage all aspects of hybrid clouds.

“As a leader in enterprise open source software, Red Hat will be demonstrating how it can create an enterprise class IT environment to support business objectives to regional CIOs and IT managers attending GITEX," explained Red Hat's Middle East, Africa and Turkey General Manager, Faycal Saile. "This is also a great opportunity for them to speak with the Red Hat team about the latest developments in the company’s cloud portfolio and understand how their companies could benefit from these solutions.”

GITEX was established in 1981 and is billed as the "ICT business gateway to the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia Region". The event draws more than 142,000 ICT Professionals from 150 countries with more than 3,700 ICT companies from 61 countries taking part.

Red Hat has been in the news recently because Brian Stevens, a former Red Hat Chief Technical Officer, has joined Google as Vice President of Google Cloud Platforms.
