OVHcloud, a global cloud leader and Europe’s pioneer in sustainable cloud solutions for over 25 years, has announced the launch of its Environmental Impact Tracker, a next-generation tool designed to provide customers with in-depth insight into the carbon footprint of their cloud usage.
A New Era of Environmental Transparency
Building upon its 2023 carbon calculator, the Environmental Impact Tracker offers a more advanced and comprehensive solution. It currently measures the carbon emissions of OVHcloud’s Baremetal, Hosted Private Cloud, and Public Cloud Compute services, with upcoming support for Public Cloud Storage and Web Hosting.
Using a robust methodology, the tracker covers Scopes 1, 2, and 3 emissions—from infrastructure manufacturing to operational usage—and includes full lifecycle analysis of components. The tool’s credibility and transparency have been validated by IJO, a leading research firm in digital responsibility.
More Features, Greater Accuracy
The updated tool introduces several advanced features, including:
- Emissions analysis from the usage phase, using both country-based and electricity supplier-specific emission factors.
- Consideration of reconditioned components during server assembly.
- A forthcoming multi-criteria impact assessment, incorporating water usage, abiotic resource depletion, and land use effects.
These additions allow users to better understand and manage the environmental footprint of their infrastructure, promoting more sustainable practices.

Global Availability and Roadmap
The Environmental Impact Tracker is now available to all OVHcloud customers worldwide (excluding the United States) via the OVHcloud Manager and a dedicated API. Additional features—including support for Storage, Web Hosting, and multi-criteria tracking—will roll out later this year.
