Peter Hewett has joined cybersecurity solutions provider Trend Micro.
Trend Micro, which has global headquarters in Tokyo, Japan, has the mission to “make the world safe for exchanging digital information”. The company’s products and services “protect individuals, families, businesses and governments” and provide protection for “mobile devices, endpoints, gateways, servers and the cloud”. It employs 1,200 “threat experts” globally and Mr. Hewett joins Trend Micro as Channel Director for Australia and New Zealand.
With more than 20 years IT experience, Mr. Hewett has spent much of his career in Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere in the Asia Pacific region. Prior to joining Trend Micro he was Country Manager at Darktrace - a British cyber security company based in Cambridge, United Kingdom. Before Darktrace he was the APAC Managing Director at Kaspersky Labs. He also spent a number of years in roles at Oxfordshire, UK-based business IT security and data protection provider Sophos. Prior to this he was in charge of sales for Australian operations at security, collaboration, networking and data center services provider Westcon Group. At Trend Micro he will oversee local channel growth within the region and his employment by Trend Micro underscores the company’s regional growth plans.
“Trend Micro is looking to double sales in Australia this year, and we are very pleased to have Peter on board as an integral part of our growth strategy,” explained Trend Micro’s vice President and Managing Director, Asia Pacific, Dhanya Thakkar. “Expanding our focus while ensuring our existing channel is fully supported for success will help us accelerate growth in 2017.”
