Philippines Bank Selects HP Converged Infrastructure for Private Cloud
EastWest Bank, a leading bank in the Philippines, has selected HP Converged Infrastructure for its private cloud. With headquarters in Taguig, Philippines, EastWest Bank is the tenth largest bank in the country. Its new private cloud will replace an existing legacy IT infrastructure which has been causing some problems – the infrastructure takes at least six hours to complete the bank’s end-of-day financial system closing process.

EastWest Bank’s choice of HP as provider comes at the cost if IBM and EMC who were also in the running. The bank now benefits from an HP 3PAR StoreServ T400 storage system housed at its production data center and another based at the bank’s disaster recovery site. The move has helped reduce its end-of-day processing times by around 40% while mission-critical data recovery was cut to one hour from four hours.

"Our previous system didn't give us enough flexibility to meet our daily business needs; the infrastructure was limiting because we were unable to allocate storage between systems," explained EastWest Bank’s Head, IT Group, Randy Evangelista. "By implementing HP Converged Infrastructure, we've taken an important step towards building a private cloud and delivering a dynamic and flexible IT environment that can keep pace with our business demands," Mr. Evangelista added.
