Private Equity Firm HgCapital Invests in Web Hosting Provider Combell Group
Private equity firm HgCapital Trust PLC (Hg) has made a major investment in web hosting provider Combell Group. Hg, which has headquarters in London, United Kingdom, was established in 2000. The company buys and invests in middle-market companies in Europe, specializing in the technology, services and industrial technology sectors. Hg focuses on “businesses with entrepreneurial leaders, driven by ambition, innovation and excellence” and prides itself on sharing “know-how and experience” to enhance the companies it is investing in. While the deal is still subject to regulatory approval, Hg’s investment in the Combell Group (alongside other institutional clients) totalled 22.1 million pounds ($28.5 million).

With headquarters in Ghent, Belgium, the Combell Group was established in 1999. The company has more than 70,000 customers and hosts “2 out of 5 Belgian websites”. The group’s brands include Combell, a premium hosting brand in Belgium, Byte in The Netherlands, and UnoEuro and DanDomain in Denmark. Alongside more common hosting services the group specialises in developing integrated tailored business solutions. Combell is Hg’s “eighth investment in the technology services sector”.

"We have been very impressed with what the team at Combell have built over the past 19 years in the Benelux and the Nordics,” explained HgCapital Partner Nick Jordan and Director Joris Van Gool in a press release. “It's a privilege to invest alongside Combell Chief Executive Officer Jonas Dhaenens and the entire management team”.
