Rack Power Distribution Units (PDU) manufacturer Powertek Ltd. (Powertek) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) hosting provider
3W Infra B.V. (3W Infra) have formed a partnership. Powertek, which has headquarters in Hong Kong, is a “leading manufacturer and supplier of rack PDUs and related solutions for IT equipment cabinets in data centers and server rooms”. The company specializes in PDUs that are built to meet customers’ exact requirements. It offers inlet, outlet, and PDU circuit breaker-level metering and full environmental monitoring support. The channel partnership will see 3W Infra deliver Powertek PDUs to its global IaaS hosting customer base.
3W Infra, which has headquarters in Amsterdam, Netherlands, was established in 2014. The company specializes in enterprise-grade ‘pure-play’ IaaS hosting options that are custom-built for each customer’s needs. Engineered for “scalability and cost-efficiency”, its services extend to colocation, dedicated servers, IP Transit, and ‘Remote Hands’. It currently manages 4,000 dedicated servers. 3W Infra becomes a ‘Strategic Global Reseller Partner’ for Powertek in a partnership that enables 3W Infra to offer customers “freely configurable and highly customized PDU delivery within two weeks after ordering”.
“One may expect that within hosting environments PDU brands are more or less interchangeable, but our tests have proved otherwise,” explained 3W Infra’s Managing Director, Roy Premchand. “The right PDU technology can make a real difference in terms of uptime guarantee, scalability, and customization options, especially with demanding and highly dynamic environments such as cloud computing, gaming, and financial applications. Our engineers did some thorough testing with the Powertek PDUs as well as with some other premium PDU brands, and Powertek’s intelligent PDUs really stood out from the crowd. Of course, we realize that the Powertek brand awareness still needs some work, it’s not a well-known brand across the globe, but the quality of their product is undeniable high and with our test bench results we’ll be able to convince every customer.”
