SaaS content management platform provider
WP Engine has announced the launch of an 'Automated Migration' solution. The company, which was established in 2010 and has headquarters in Austin, Texas, USA, also has a presence in San Francisco, California and San Antonio, Texas, USA, and London, United Kingdom. It specializes in catering for websites built using WordPress - an Open Source program that was released in 2003 and originally designed to cater for bloggers.
A PHP and MySQL-based solution, WordPress has morphed into one of the leading Content Management Systems (CMS) utilized on the Internet and offers a "plugin architecture" which allows users to add functionality to their websites. WP Engine caters to thousands of customers who use WordPress websites. The company's "Automated Migration" solution "enables simple and seamless migrations of WordPress websites to WP Engine's managed WordPress hosting platform".
WP Engine's Automated Migration is available as a plugin and helps reduce "the cost and complexity" of migrating websites, meaning a typical WordPress site can be migrated to WP Engine's platform in around 30 minutes. The plugin is available to the company's WP Engine Personal, Professional, or Business plan customers.
"At WP Engine, we keep the customer at the forefront of everything we do. We are constantly innovating and building new tools to make our customers' lives easier," explained WP Engine's founder, Jason Cohen. "It's great to hear that developers and marketers are as excited as we are about our new Automated Migration solution. Migrating sites from one platform to another has previously been an expensive and lengthy process, so we're looking forward to helping more businesses move across to our platform quickly and easily."
