Tresoritl has received €11.5 million ($13.3 million) in funding. Tresorit, which has headquarters in Budapest, Hungary and has a presence in Switzerland, was established in 2011. The company specializes in offering businesses a way to safely share confidential data. Its file synchronization software makes encrypted data safe and utilizes the cloud to make it available anywhere. As encryption occurs before data enters the cloud, it is not necessary to only put your trust in a cloud provider’s data protection capability. Tresorit’s latest Series B funding was led by 3TS Capital Partners, PortfoLion and a number of existing investors, including Andreas Kemi.
Tresorit’s new funding will be used to develop a new management team “with the aim of scaling up marketing and sales, and establishing new channel partners”. In addition, the funding will enable the company to meet increasing demands for ‘secure cloud solutions’. Tresorit’s solutions offer “zero-knowledge encryption technology and unique encryption key management”. News of the funding comes on the heels of Tresorit’s recent ‘Beta’ launch of “Tresorit Send” - a “standalone file sharing product that offers a secure and encrypted alternative to unreliable file transfer sites and email attachments”.
“To sum up, we hope to bring our solution to many more customers all over the world so that we empower them to keep their confidential documents safe in the cloud,” suggested a statement on the company’s website. “Insights from our new capital partners and continued support from our existing investors are key in enabling us to achieve this mission. We are very much excited to embark on this journey and tackle any challenges and opportunities that might come our way”.
