Secure infrastructure company
Skyport Systems has launched a new product designed to protect VMware vCenter users. Skyport Systems specializes in "Hyper-secured Infrastructure" (HSI) products that provide secure "mission-critical IT and corporate assets" and integrate "compute, security, virtualization and policy management". With headquarters in Mountain View, California, USA, Skyport offers a high degree of expertise in areas such as virtualization, cryptography, systems engineering and networking. Its new SkySecure Hosting for vCenter offering protects VMware vCenter users with an "application-specific firewall".
SkySecure offers a range of security templates that allow faster customer trials and reduce deployment times. The solution now offers a template specifically designed for vCenter users. The template establishes a firewall that protects and secures "the computing foundation and communications channels". The customized vCenter firewall offers full administrative access to the vCenter Server alongside full DNS access. In addition, it facilitates user and admin identity management through the adoption of Microsoft Active Directory. SkySecure also offers a range of other features including "specific protection for partner API usage, network attached storage entitlements for image management and an ESX Server to vCenter administrative control panel".
“We set a high bar for our team on achieving general availability and first revenue shipment,” explained Skyport Systems' Corporate Vice President, Douglas Gourlay. “We concurrently ran external penetration tests against the entire system, delivered ‘over the air’ software and firmware updates to client systems, turned up multiple new customers and significantly exceeded our availability targets.”
