Security Company Malwarebytes Acquires ERP and On-premise Application Platform Solutions Provider Binisoft
Security company Malwarebytes has acquired Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and on-premise application platform solutions provider Binisoft. Malwarebytes, which has headquarters in Santa Clara, California, United States, was established in 2008. The company’s security options extend to antivirus, anti-malware, anti-ransomware, anti-exploit, and breach remediation options. Over the last 12 months the company has “experienced a seven-fold increase in large enterprise customers” and now deals with over 60,000 customers globally. Malwarebytes’ acquisition of Binisoft will enhance its ability to provide a one-stop security service.

Binisoft, which has headquarters in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, is the company behind the Windows Firewall Control – a “powerful tool which extends the functionality of Windows Firewall and provides quick access to the most frequent options of the Windows Firewall”. The solution is used by millions globally. It runs in a computer’s system tray, meaning users can control the native Windows firewall without the need to navigate to an individual part of the firewall. The acquisition will “significantly enhance the Malwarebytes endpoint protection platform”. Financial aspects of the deal have not been released, but it was announced Binisoft would operate under its own name and continue providing its current products and features. The acquisition comes on the heels of Malwarebytes’ acquisition of Saferbytes and AdwCleaner.

“We’ve seen tremendous demand from our customer base for these capabilities,” explained Malwarebytes’ CEO, Marcin Kleczynski. “With continued increases in cyberthreats, including malware that communicates and coordinates data theft, it is more important than ever for businesses to easily manage their Windows Firewall and establish communication policies to prevent programs from initiating unauthorized outbound connections. With the acquisition of Binisoft, Malwarebytes will provide an all in one solution well beyond having to manage a Firewall through Group Policy Objects or other Microsoft technologies.”
