Security Software Provider McAfee Acquires Cloud Security Company Skyhigh Networks
Security software provider McAfee LLC (McAfee) has acquired cloud security company Skyhigh Networks. McAfee, which has headquarters in Santa Clara, California, United States, is one of the Internet’s originals and established in 1987. The company was founded by John McAfee, a colorful character who featured in the 2016 Showtime documentary ‘Gringo: The Dangerous Life of John McAfee’. Recognized for innovation and collaboration, McAfee’s offerings defend against a wide range of cyber threats. The cost of the acquisition was not announced but Skyhigh Networks has previously been valued at $400 million.

The Skyhigh Networks acquisition comes only eight months after McAfee was made independent of a semiconductor, data center solutions, IoT and computer processor company, Intel – its former owner. While Skyhigh Networks is expected to maintain its independence, its CEO, Mr. Rajiv Gupta, joins McAfee’s executive team.

“Nearly eight months ago, McAfee became one of the world’s largest pure-play cybersecurity companies,” explained the Chief Executive Officer of McAfee, Mr. Christopher D. Young in an announcement on the company’s blog. “At that time, I committed to our customers, partners and employees that we would be a company focused on innovation and growth with a singular pledge of keeping the world safe from cyber threats. Today, we continue the journey by announcing that McAfee will acquire Skyhigh Networks, the worldwide leader in the cloud access security broker (CASB) market segment”.
